Something you should know about losing a soulmate: At first, you will feel like you just can't go on. It is normal, natural, and even healthy to feel a little bit adrift, not just like you've lost someone you care about, but like you've lost a piece of yourself.

Perhaps the best thing you can do during your grieving process, then, is just to be patient with yourself. For most individuals, the process of intense bereavement over a soulmate can take up to a year and even then, you'll never fully be the same again.

In addition to showing yourself some grace and some patience, there are other steps you can take to facilitate a healthy grieving process.  One valuable endeavor is to simply learn more about loss and grief. You can do this by reading memoirs and reflections from others who have lost a soulmate, or even attend a support group with those who are in a similar position.

Remember that the point of grief isn't just to stifle it, but to actually feel it. To that end, it can be helpful to see a therapist or a close friend to whom you can express what you're really feeling. It's also okay to have days when you simply feel sad and crave solitude; confronting your feelings, rather than muffling or masking them, can be a healthy way to move forward.

Also make sure you take care of yourself. Eat healthy food, try to get some physical activity each day, and seek an activity that allows you a positive outlet for stress. And finally, remember that you are not alone. Reach out to friends or family whenever you need to talk or simply need someone to give you a hug and remind you that you are loved.
